Age Of Empires Online

http://ageofempiresonline.com/

So the new project code name 'Sparta' is actually Age Of Empires Online. Not sure how the game play will be. Most idiots right now argue about graphics. Yet they praise AOE1 and AOE2 the most, yet those shit is dated graphics. See how these morons dont get the concept of game play. Anyways from what it looks like so far. It seems more like an RPG element and always connected online. How the fuck is that gonna come out im not sure. Might be fun never know.

Listal - Online Movie Catalog

Saw this one yesterday and tryed out, was pretty cool and really easy to use. Just rate and it goes to the next movie. There is still some bugs i believe it doesnt add to my wanted to watch list ATM on the skip option, maybe is a chromium thing but i doubt it. Got TV series Books, Music & Games also. This will be my replacement for GuruLib. Since is faster and quicker to get going.

Single Click vs Double Click

Was reading on this (http://www.webupd8.org/2010/05/ubuntu-w-gnome-switching-to-single.html)

There is alot of benefits to single click, is faster, less work, less injuries lols. Overall more efficient, but there are few pitfalls to it also. Now the majority of your time is mainly opening and or navigating thru folders and launching it, which single click rules in this area. But, when it comes to selection of the file, this is where it sucks. You don't really select files more than you navigate on a daily basis. However this is still something that you do, like select a file to rename or delete, which you can not do very easily with single click mode. Most people will tell you to hold Ctrl (requires 2 hands = defeats the purpose) to select or highlight on the white spaces (all of which is clumsy). Then you get these KDE fanboys telling you to use the plus sign to select. To those people i say, the plus sign is Stupid, is slow, you have to really concentrate on where you click and if you mess up, gotta do it all over, try using that in Icon, list and column view, then you'll understand what I am saying.

However i am enjoying single click again, mainly because i figure out a way to remedy the selection problem associated with single click mode, with easystroke at the moment. You dont have to using two hands, but you use two fingers (trigger + button 1) to select either one or multiples files really easy

Note: You need to install easystroke and xautomation, assuming your right handed, use Button3 as trigger, and record stroke bind with Button1

This emulates the Ctrl + Click that you would do. So far im enjoying single click thanks to this.

EasyStrokes - Mouse Gestures

Legends:

Make Sure to Not Disable The Timeout profile, if you are going to use the Delay Strokes as it depends on it. At Default is fine

= Simple Stroke, Blue is the starting point, Green is ending, Release Trigger Button Quickly

= Delay Stroke, same as simple stroke but the Trigger Button is held and not release while doing the stroke.

= Button Stroke, the # represents the buttons on the mouse 1=left, 2=middle, 3=right -- This one is no movement, so we have no blue-green strokes, how this works is using our Trigger Button + Another button on the mouse without a gesture, kind of like a button binding

= Delay Button Stroke, same as above but with an "X" which means we held it down without releasing the Trigger Button

= Advance Stroke, so this is a simple stroke + another Button on the mouse. This is mainly for gestures such as, windows resizing, highlighting, grouping windows, ring switcher. How is works is perform the Simple Stroke (without letting go of the TRIGGER button) and hit the other mouse button really quick. Ex: Hold Trigger Button dont let go, Draw "G", hit left button quick

= Advance Delay Stroke, same as above, just that is delay

Alternatively for the compiz zoom, u can do Button Stroke, no need for the simple stroke, then it will be exactly like the AeroZoom.

When your gestures deals with the Wheel Mouse to navigate (scroll up/down) , make sure the Gestures are the same, Such as this case the "R" is same on both, only Button is different.

Make sure you have it in single quotes is the link that is not working 'link-in-single-quotes'

The Scroll Options is pretty easy, Activate with a stroke then hold a button on your mouse and move mouse up/down to scroll quickly

Open Folders That you normally want quick access to

Make sure you have the Hotkeys setup in compiz to use the Group feature

EASYSTROKE VIDEO PART 1

EASYSTROKE VIDEO PART 2
--

UPDATE 5/7/2010: On Lucid now, Version5 is very stable, they fixed the two button advance gestures, only thing that annoys me in this version is the "Invisible Mode" it does not feel smooth like it did last version in Karmic, feels jerky. Other than that everything is pimpin.

-----------------------------

All of this started, when i was looking at stupid things Ubuntu was doing -- buttons left and right and all that bullshit, since they replace it with nothing and no good reason other than we need that space to experiment? Well experiment first then dummies. Then I was looking at the Apple Magic Mouse (www.youtube.com/watch?v=-hExjHFst0g), great idea just that most people complain about the grip on the hands was bad, because it was mainly flat and not very curvy. The one thing i like about it was the scroll feature, it can detect the speed at which a user flicks, kinnda like on the iphone, android ...etc. Then there was talks about the Ubuntu right buttons was going to be ESFERA (www.omgubuntu.co.uk/2010/03/esfera-gesture-based-replacement-for.html). It sounded so stupid, basically you click+hold on a button then perform a gesture to close, minimize, maximize, that would be slower then the buttons we have now. So with that in mind, I remember EasyStrokes that I used in the past, back then it was a bit slow, now is decent, Im not on Lucid yet, but would really want to try the new EasyStroke version 5 they got, should be stable.

So for the past month I been experimenting with the different type of program to bind with. Mainly trying to be productive with it balancing gestures to use with my needs. The Advance gestures are pretty cool, after you understand how to use them. It was a bit confusing reading about it on the official Easystroke Website. Personally for this type of thing, a video is best suited. I will do a new video after i think i got it all down. I did one in the past but that was only for basic stuff (video www.youtube.com/watch?v=kdomiISPKhY). Also just saw this video today on AeroZoom (www.youtube.com/watch?v=_Ovr40yXAzk) i liked the idea of that, however the way they had to bind the buttons was not comfortable, LEFT Button + Middle Scoll? loL. Good Thing is Compiz and EasyStroke Advance Gestures can do that also but you can use what every buttons you wish.

0AD Linux RTS Game - Pre Alpha - Non Playable

Just tried this alpha release, man this game has be long in the making. It was around 2007 when i heard of this game. Only now has it came out with alpha build to mess around. I'm a huge RTS fan, Although im not into those modern ones with the age of artillery or guns. Its all about swords and arrows for me. I was on this drug called Age of Empire lmao for like 10yrs i believe. Would still be playing it today if the community hasn't die out. Actually this blog started because of Age of Empires and not linux screencast as some people would think. Anyways im very excited for this game since i heard they are going to have multiplayer servers, This is the one thing i need in a RTS game-- is people to play against. Im not into the AI bullshit to have fun. If Glest (Another Linux RTS Game) had this i would be ballin on that game right now.

0AD has for the most part similar to AOE3 graphics, which might slow the game play down in my opinion. But I see why they did it, since they want to improve the Linux gaming scenes and not just ugly graphics that we are use to in most of these open source projects. Another thing is that since this is an open source game, I am confident that the community will never die for a very long long time, if they keep adding new units, features, improvements -- man anyone can play this forever. But that is just my wish for now until I see how the gameplay will come out in the future release.

Miro Linux Channel Feed

Forgot to add my Miro link, its now on the side also, I hear Miro 3 is gonna be 150% faster, waiting to try that out soon. I use to love Miro, been using that for years on windows and linux. But sadly the old version is laggy as shit. It might be reasonable if u got little feeds. But i had like 70+ feeds give or take. The way they handle video RSS is a piece of crap. They fetch Rss at loadup, Dl videos all at the same time. However the features they have is very unique, which i hope other players do use it also. Delete after x hours is pimp

Age of Empire 3: Single Player Campaign

Just played all AOE3 expansions, The original, warchief, and asian dynasty, the single player story was very good. I played the 1st one back in the days when it came out, replayed again along with both expansions too see. The story from the original continue to the 2nd War chief expansion, which was good and they kept going with the same family. At 1st it was about her great grandfather, then about her father, then herself, and for the warchief is about her son. In the Asian Dynasty it was pretty weak. Was 3 different sub story, 1st about an orphan that was lied to by his master, takes place in Japan. Next was China story, where the nephew of the emperor wanted more power, was a weak story. Last one was good, It was about India vs British, basically the character was indian in the british army, then turn rebel to free his people from 'the company' as they call it. So he face off with his former Captain.

As far as the game play is pretty slow compare to how the original AOE1 is and thats the downfall of the AOE3 series. They beef up the graphics but just like any game nowadays, graphics dont mean shit if it aint fun. So online play is out for me. But play the single player for the story is great.
